Assessment Tools and Teaching

Using assessment methods when teaching is very helpful. Students will notice the difference, how they are understanding, or not understanding the subject. Students know what is expected from them. For teachers it is very beneficial because we will know where each student stands. The assessment tool that I liked and I had never heard about it till I signed up for ETEC 424 is the Eportfolio. I like it because it will never be destroyed and a student can always get online and see all the accomplishments they have mastered. Another really good assessment tool is a rubric for grading students assignments. Students know what the teacher is looking for, and students know they will pass if they include everything that the teacher wants to see.

As a future PE teacher I will do assessments to see if the skills and techniques I am teaching are being mastered by the students. The test of gross motor development two is the assessment that I will use in PE. I will definitely use rubrics also because in the future students will be seeing rubrics and I want to prepare them for the future.

Reflection Over Course

Throughout this course I have learned so much about technology and how to incorporate it in a classroom setting. I was fascinated with Web 2.0 and the applications that I can use in my PE classroom. I want to demonstrate the passion I have for PE but I am definitely going to take advantage of tools like YouTube, Voice Thread, Wiki Spaces, Blogger, and Eportfolio.

I have so many ideas letting students invent their own games and putting it on YouTube, for every student to watch. Voice thread students can talk about anything from diet, exercise, disease and other students can benefit and learn from voice threads. Wiki Spaces I can give students a project and they can all collaborate together. The list goes on and on. I am going to incorporate technology in my classroom. I learned so much from this class I will take all that knowledge and I will use it in the future.
