Podcasting

Podcasting is very beneficial you are an independent producer and distributor of audio and video. The amazing part is you can be watched world wide on the internet. You can subscribe to different contents. The exiting part about podcasting you can watch it whenever you want. You can use your computer to watch or your iPod. I like the fact that anyone can create a Podcast. Another thing that I like is that you can subscribe to a podcast and automatically you will receive future shows. Podcasting can also be used in a classroom. Students can get together and create a Podcast, they would have to collaborate, and say things in order. It is a huge learning experience, practice public speaking.

Podcasting is similar to Web 2.0 the big difference is you are broadcasting to a lot of people. You are not just elaborating on your wiki space. Podcasting you are seen by people and heard on the internet. The way I see it, this is more personal because you are able to see the person so it is much better than reading somebody’s blog.

I personally own an IPod. I only watch videos and listen to music. I would hear stations say check out podcast I had no idea what they were talking about. I just thought it was like a Voice Thread. I am going to be subscribing to different Podcast this weekend. Now that I know that anyone can create a Podcast I would definitely make one with a group of students. The advantages of online communication is awesome you get to meet new people from different states, and countries. The disadvantage is that it can get in your way with your immediate family. I can relate because last week my sister told me get off your cell we haven’t seen each other and what was I doing playing words with friends. I did get off and hung out with her.

Web 2.0

Over the last decade we have experienced a technical revolution which is Web 2.0. We are able to receive information right away, and with so many applications coming out we are able to involve ourselves in social networking, extension software, and wikis you can edit, save, and in which others in your group can do the same.

Time flies when you are teaching your content area. So now we can take advantage with sources like blogging, wiki space, and continue the lesson there. So we can interact more than ever and not only individually, but it can be in a group also. Another useful tool is YouTube which has a lot of instructional information.

We are communicating a lot on the web, sharing our experiences, our knowledge, and opinions. Applications like podcasting, social bookmarking, and social networking are making this possible and it is very effective. I believe that this technology will keep growing, and becoming more useful to many more people.
